Over 5,000 carved pumpkins are now on display at the Minnesota Zoo at its annual Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular which runs through Nov. 2. The event is part pumpkin patch, part art installation with artistically carved pumpkins lighting the way through a wooded trail at the zoo. This year’s theme of the carvings is “What Goes Bump in the Night,” and features an expanded walking route. Tickets to the event often sell out and must be bought in advance on the Minnesota Zoo website. Story and video by J

🎃👻PUMPKIN PARTY: Twenty artists make 7,000 pumpkins for the Minnesota Zoo’s Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular throughout the five-week run. At any given time, 5,000 light up the one-way trail, including some artificial ones in difficult-to-reach locations. Big pumpkins take up to 20 hours to carve. They’re covered with intricate designs like skeleton-versions of “The Simpsons” on a couch, a heavy metal collage, Prince, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson and pop sensation Taylor Swift. 🎥: @alicia

The Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular at the Minnesota Zoo is amazing! My husband and I enjoyed a great date night here. There are 8000 pumpkins including real carved ones. It took a whole hour to walk through this but can easily take longer. The artwork is impressive and grouped by themes. And there are so many displays! The path is one-way this year which worked great. It's stroller-friendly but hilly. It is September 26 - November 2. There are some adult-only nights - check their calendar before goi
