Watch: ‘Elusive’ lynx caught on camera in snowy Maine forest

I had a unique experience of seeing my first Canada Lynx in the wild near my camp at Cross Lake this week. It was a magnificent animal! It was very photogenic for about 15 minutes until it got tired of me taking its picture and simply walked away. Our natural resources in Aroostook County are truly amazing. They are typically buff-colored with longitudinal streaking on their backs at birth and develop quickly, opening their eyes around 10-17 days old and beginning to walk by 3-4 weeks. Kittens remain with their mother for about 10 months to a year, learning essential hunting and survival skills before becoming independent . . . .
