Folding firewood jig black locust. I’ve been thinning my black locust. Cutting the small-diameter and crooked shaded trees, so the stand allocates more growth to the larger, straighter trees that I can harvest for fence posts. I’ve been meaning to make a firewood jig for a while. It folds, such that it doesn’t take up too much space under an eve. Increased efficiency and safety. I have a few giant piles of slabs/offcuts that I’m hoping to make some time to process into firewood as well. | Harry

Harry Greene on Instagram: "Black locust is a native hardwood that yields rot-resistant fence posts and lumber. Seedlings often grow crooked, but shipmast trees grow straight. Comment “locust” and I’ll tell you where to get them."

Harry Greene on Instagram: "Just wanted to clear up the confusion. Black Locust, Robinia pseudoacacia, is a fast-growing hardwood that yields rot-resistant fence posts and high-end lumber. It’s excellent if you’re looking for livestock shade quickly. Honey Locust, Gleditsia triacanthos, tolerates a wide range of soil types and climates. It’s also a great #silvopasture tree. Seed pods = winter feed. Comment “fence,” and I’ll send you more info on black locust fenceposts."

Propagate on Instagram: "Shade for the livestock, and shade for the people. Black locust is a fast-growing hardwood, native to much of the Eastern United States. It yields rot-resistant fence posts and lumber, and grows back after you cut it down. We’ve planted locust shelterbelts for grass-fed sheep and cattle, and the pastured turkey that you may have just had for Thanksgiving. When eating, we try to ask, “What kind of landscape will this food create? Does it increase biodiversity, water quali
