One of the hardest parts of being a foster parent that we don’t talk about often is having to watch our kids struggling with trauma. We have to watch as they endure something that we have zero power to take away. All we can do is wait and watch. But what are we waiting for? Why can’t we step in and help? Why can’t we change it? Trauma is not just a moment. It’s lifelong. It impacts every child so differently. Some of it looks like anger, depression, and sadness. Some of it is behavior problems.

POV video - some days are just hard! Being a foster parent may come with hard or draining days. The system and damage it causes creates day to day challenges that most families do not experience. And if it’s hard for foster parents, imagine how hard it is for the kids. Even on hard days foster parents can be a safe place.
