Final Fantasy Spirits within was not in relation to any existing Final Fantasy story line, it was its own universe with its own characters and it failed because Final Fantasy players wanted a Final Fantasy experience not just a random space movie. So it failed the FF players, it was marketed as a Final fantasy universe experience.

But those graphics don't compared to what we were seeing in Spirits Within. Even the CGI cutscenes in FFX lack a lot of the incredible depth and polish of what Spirits Within had.

Yeah, not good in my opinion. The resolution is low. This is understandable however, it was their first Final Fantasy movie.
