Im not sure how it happened or how it works, but all i know is for a brief time you could sign up for a free trial of crunchyroll with google play store, i did so the last day they offered it, and i never payed. Ive been using the same crunchyroll since without paying.
Suddenly many more episodes are locked to premium only?

Just like with other premium streaming services, you gotta pay, it's just in this case that you gotta pay for the new content and some parts of the catalog.

You can get 48 hours of premium through a guest pass as well as a free trial when you start a subscription. The only "free premium" talked about on here is when the system bugs out and people are able to keep their premium status after their subscription ends.
