Crews have successfully extinguished the underground fire at the Stormwater Detention Facility in the back parking lot at Premium Outlets.

The outlet mall’s property owner, Simon Properties, hired a general contractor to begin removing material from the underground fire Tuesday night.

The fire that’s been burning since Saturday beneath a parking lot at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets has been extinguished, according to James City County officials.
