A 33-year-old man faces formal charges that include first-degree murder in connection with a Nov. 22 shooting spree that the Sedgwick County sheriff described as “a rampage.” The string of violent crimes in which Jose Antonio Acosta fired numerous shots ended when Wichita police shot him.

The first-degree murder charge stems from the shooting death of 40-year-old Myron Tucker, who police found Friday at Prospect Park. Police believe Acosta fatally shot Tucker before going on a shooting spree, Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter said during a news conference Monday afternoon.

"He just loved his parents, loved his family and just loved life. You know he was just trying to do what everybody else is trying to do. Make it,” said Tucker. His family is concerned Acosta had access to a firearm to begin with, given his criminal history. "Somebody needs to be held accountable,” said Tucker.
