Mariah Carey will be honored with the Video Vanguard Award and perform at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards in September.

Sombr, Alex Warren and J Balvin featuring DJ Snake will also take the stage at New York's UBS Arena for the annual music event, airing live for the first time on CBS as well as longtime home MTV.

LL Cool J is returning to the VMAs stage to host the 2025 MTV VMAs. The rapper previously cohosted the 2022 awards show with Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow. He also was the first rapper to receive the Video Vanguard Award in 1997.

Sombr’s highly anticipated album, I Barely Know Her, drops on August 22, and in a few weeks, he’s set to make his awards show debut at the VMAs. The Best New Artist and Best Alternative Artist nominee played coy when the outlet asked whether Addison would be involved with his performance in any capacity.
