A federal judge on Friday dismissed a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Justice Department that accused the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago of unlawfully interfering with President Donald Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration.

The Justice Department had sued the leaders of Illinois, Chicago and Cook County over policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration officials.

The United States Department of Justice's lawsuit against Illinois and Chicago over sanctuary city policies has been dismissed by a judge.
