Police Officer Brent Payne, who was shot in Lorain while on a lunch break with fellow officers, was released from the hospital on Saturday with a police procession.
At a candlelight vigil Thursday evening, Acting Police Chief Michael Failing delivered an emotional update to a grieving community gathered to honor and support the officers.

The suspect — Michael Parker, 28, of Lorain — was pronounced dead at the scene after the shooting. According to the Elyria Police Department, officers returned fire during the exchange, which ultimately resulted in Parker sustaining a fatal injury.
