More than 500 members of a banned direct action group were arrested on Saturday at a protest on Parliament Square. Palestine Action were listed as proscribed in July under the Terrorism Act of 2000, after they caused criminal damage to RAF Brize Norton. Membership of or support for it is a criminal offence, punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

Police have arrested 466 people in central London on Saturday for protesting the British government’s decision to ban the pro-Palestinian activist group Palestine Action under anti-terrorism laws.

Officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command will put together case files and charge those arrested. | ITV National News
