India's NTPC Green Energy , the renewable energy arm of power producer NTPC climbed 3.24% in pre-open debut trade on Wednesday as traders bet on the country's growing clean energy needs.

The newly-listed NTPC Green Enegry recently debuted on the BSE at a premium of over 3%. Now, although it was a flat debut, the shares jumped about 14% intraday on Nov 27 post its listing. So does that mean you should buy it now?

NTPC Green Energy shares debuted on November 27 at ₹111.50, reflecting a modest premium. Despite a subdued start, the stock rose to ₹122.65, with analysts recommending a long-term investment strategy due to strong fundamentals in India’s renewable energy sector.

The company received a total of Rs 15,406 crore from investors. The retail investors bid for 293 million shares against 81.48 million shares.

Shares of NTPC Green, which launched its initial public offering (IPO) for public subscription from November 19 to November 22, debuted on the stock exchange today at a 3.2% premium over IPO price. The stock debuted at Rs 111.

Delhi-based NTPC Green Energy is selling its shares in the price band of Rs 102-108 apiece. Investors can apply for a minimum of 138 shares and its multiples thereafter.

NTPC Green Energy made its debut on the stock market on Wednesday, November 27, with a somewhat lukewarm reception.

NTPC Green Energy’s IPO debuted on November 27 at ₹111.5 on NSE, a 3.2% premium over the issue price. The IPO, valued at ₹10,000 crore, saw strong demand, closing 2.55 times oversubscribed, with retail investors booking 3.
