Military-style vehicles and National Guards troops have blocked a portion of 4th Street in front of the Ronald Reagan Federal Building and Courthouse.

It's been five days since anti-ICE demonstrations erupted in Los Angeles, some turning violent between protesters and law enforcement officers, prompting President Trump to deploy National Guard troops and hundreds of Marines.

President Donald Trump is defending his decision to send Another 2,000 National Guard troops along with 700 Marines to Los Angeles, escalating a military presence local officials and Gov. Gavin Newsom don’t want and the police chief says creates logistical challenges for safely handling protests.

The Guard’s arrival marks a potentially volatile phase in Trump’s push to ramp up deportations and in his contentious relationship with state and local authorities.

The California Governor has sued the U.S. President over the mobilization of the National Guard, calling it “an unmistakable step toward authoritarianism.”

Hearings at the immigration court in San Francisco were shut down Tuesday after protesters showed up to speak out against a new round of arrests by ICE agents. Lauren Toms reports.
