Michael Madigan, a former Illinois House speaker and the longest-serving legislative leader in U.S. history, was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and fined $2.5 million on June 13, following his federal corruption trial.

In February, a jury convicted Madigan, 83, of bribery conspiracy, wire fraud and other crimes. He was sentenced Friday to 7.5 years in federal prison and a $2.5 million fine.
