Alabama A&M linebacker Medrick Burnett Jr.’s death was confirmed Nov. 29, according to NBC News, two days after the school issued a retraction for prematurely announcing his passing.

An Alabama A&M football player who suffered a head injury during a game in October has died. Medrick Burnett Jr., 20, was playing his first season as a linebacker with Alabama A&M University when he sustained the injury during the annual Magic City Classic against in-state rivals Alabama State University on Oct.

Medrick Burnett Jr., a 20-year-old Alabama college football player, died on Nov. 27, over a month after he was hospitalized following an in-game head injury. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office confirmed Burnett's death two days after his school retracted a false death announcement.
