A community is in mourning after a teen was shot and killed during what his family called a violent robbery gone wrong while he headed to a concert in Chicago.

Police are investigating the Sunday shooting, which happened minutes before the start of a Lil Durk concert near a United Center parking lot.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three teens were shot and wounded just steps from the United Center on the Near West Side Sunday evening. At 6:56 p.m., the victims were struck by gunfire in the 100 block of North Wolcott Avenue, near Maypole Avenue, police said.

The 18-year-old was simply on his way to see a Lil Durk concert at the United Center when he was shot Sunday evening.

The mother of an Elgin High School student who was fatally shot Sunday night on his way to a concert at the United Center is speaking out, as police continue looking for those responsible for the killing.
