It’s time to dust off your VCR and clean the heads, because Alien: Romulus is coming to VHS as a limited edition on December 3rd alongside the other physical releases, director Fede Alvarez announced during “a special Beyond Fest-partnered screening” in Los Angeles yesterday.

It's apparently been 18 years since a major studio has released a movie on VHS, but that drought will be broken when Alien: Romulus comes out for the outdated platform on December 3. That's right: An actual tape of the sci-fi horror movie is getting made, though it will be a limited edition.

‘Alien: Romulus’ has been available for digital purchase or rental on platforms since October 15th, while the physical edition in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD will be available on December 3rd, the same day as the VHS edition.

The seventh installment in the 45-year “Alien” film series hits Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home on Oct. 15 ahead of its 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD release on Dec. 3. While Alien: Romulus is now available to buy digitally, we still don't know when it'll be available to watch on Disney+. Disney has also yet to confirm a release date for the movie on its streaming service.
