Manchester United made an approach to Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness over the summer as they searched for a replacement for Erik ten Hag.

However, there is a new name in the mix. According to GiveMeSport, United would consider Newcastle boss Eddie Howe if Ten Hag was given the boot. INEOS are said to be scoping out possible replacements and are great admirers of Howe, who has also been mentioned amongst the contenders for the next permanent England boss.

It's been the same story in the UEFA Europa League. United conceded a late goal at home in a 1–1 draw against FC Twente—one ten Hag's former clubs during his playing days—and threw away a 2–0 lead against FC Porto, eventually drawing 3–3 dropping more points.
