Lenovo is preparing a more affordable version of the Legion Go console, the Legion Go S, which has just leaked in renders.

The Legion Go cemented Lenovo as a player in the handheld PC market. Its success seemed stilted perhaps based on price. An update is inbound.

A listing for a new "Legion Go S 8ARP1" was spotted by Videocardz on the company's support website, which lists a 11.41-megabyte BIOS update for the unreleased device, which runs on Windows 11 (64-bit). The entry suggests that a new model could be on the way, and that it could arrive as a more affordable option.

While it’s tempting to think that means the Legion Go S will be a step backward, keep in mind that Valve’s Steam Deck continues to be one of the most popular handheld gaming PCs several years after launch, and it has a AMD “Aerith” and “Sepiroth” chips featuring Zen 2 CPUs and RNDA 2 graphics.

Gaming handhelds soared in 2024, and that momentum isn't expected to slow down in 2025. We could see new companies get into the handheld market (Xbox, perhaps?), but at the very least, we're expecting to see new handhelds from Asus and Lenovo.

When Valve released the Steam Deck, PC manufacturers realized there could be a new market for small, handheld computers that are capable of running games.

Lenovo’s Legion Go handheld gaming PC cost $700 when it launched in the spring, and while you can get one for $484.99 right now, there have been rumors about a revised Legion Go S that starts at about $399.
