We’ll start the weekend with some bands of sea-effect snow blowing across the Atlantic provinces through the day Saturday. Heavy snowfall rates and wind gusts over 50 km/h will lead to locally difficult travel conditions, especially in western Newfoundland, on the Burin and Avalon Peninsulas, and Cape Breton.

CBC meteorologist Ashley Brauweiler says the Avalon Peninsula should buckle up for possible blizzard-like conditions early Monday morning. Turn your pajamas inside out and stick a spoon under your pillow!

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for all of Massachusetts on Thursday afternoon ahead of a system that could bring at least a half foot of snow to the region this weekend.
