Hurricane Oscar made landfall early on Sunday in the south-eastern Bahamas and was heading towards Cuba, an island recently hit by a massive power outage. The National Hurricane Centre in Miami said the storm's centre arrived on Great Inagua island.

Models have Oscar tracking towards Cuba before taking a sharp turn northeast. Oscar could bring an elevated rip current risk to the Southeast Coast by next week. No direct impacts from the storm is expected for Southeast Georgia or the Lowcountry.
