The Marine Mammal Stranding Center said they're unsure if the whale that washed on the beach in West Cape May is still alive.

The minke whale was found at Sunset Beach near the wreck of the SS Atlantus early Tuesday afternoon and remained alive for a few hours.

WEST CAPE MAY, N.J. (WPVI) -- A whale washed up along the Delaware Bay in West Cape May on Tuesday afternoon. It was first reported around 3 p.m. near Sunset Beach on the 500 block of Sunset Boulevard. There was no immediate word on the size of the whale or if it was still alive.
