Vail Resorts said Epic Pass sales declined slightly this winter. However, pass revenue is still up thanks to a price increase.

Broomfield-based ski resort company Vail Resorts has reported a net third-quarter loss of $172.8 million and a rare decline in Epic pass purchases. Vail Resorts owns and operates 42 ski resorts in four countries, including Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Crested Butte in Colorado.

Vail Resorts, the owner of the popular Epic Pass, reported to investors during the company’s 2025 first-quarter earnings call Monday that pass product sales decreased slightly.

A lack of snow early in the season last year across much of the U.S., including in Colorado, kept people away from the mountains.

With the sales window now closed, Vail Resorts officials said the company sold 2% fewer pre-purchased lift passes than last year, but the total sales dollars on those passes was 4% higher due to the rising cost of passes.

There is no "best" ski vacation when choosing from top mountains in the US, Canada, Italy, France, Japan and many other destinations. But they have one thing in common.
