Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is moving rapidly to ban transgender troops from the U.S. military, giving active-duty service members on Thursday 30 days and reservists 60 days to voluntarily leave or be forced out.

LGBTQ+ advocates said the Trump administration’s purge of transgender troops is unconstitutional and will hurt national security and waste resources.

The U.S. Supreme Court has acted in a series of cases involving challenges to executive orders signed by President Donald Trump and actions by his administration since he returned to office in January.
