Former NFL tight end and Fox Sports personality Rob Gronkowski announced Sunday that he will sign a one-day contract with the New England Patriots this week to retire as a member of the organization.
Most people assumed Rob Gronkowski was already retired. He hasn’t played football since 2021. But before one of his former teams played the other on Sunday, the likely Hall-of-Fame-bound tight end said he’ll sign one more contract on Wednesday with the Patriots. Gronkowski hinted that was likely this summer.
"Here's some news first, everyone," Gronkowski said. "I am signing a one-day contract with the Patriots this week coming up to retire as a Patriot and be a Patriot for life … so I'm going with the Patriots." Gronkowski then kidded his former quarterback and good friend Tom Brady.
