Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy plans to cut the number of flights in and out of Newark Liberty International Airport for the "next several weeks," as New Jersey's largest airport struggles with radar outages and numerous flight delays and cancellations due to a shortage of air traffic controllers.

The air traffic control mishap early Friday morning added to disruptions in recent days that have intensified concerns about safety at one of the busiest U.S. airports.

The failure was the second such incident in the past two weeks, amid continuing concerns over safety at the airport.
