Blizzard conditions have shut down roadways and travel is not recommended in many areas of western and northwestern Iowa this afternoon. DOT Winter Operations Director Craig Bargfrede says a large area is impacted.

Marathon, Shawano, and Taylor Counties will also be affected. The storm is expected to make travel nearly impossible, particularly on highways and rural roads. Forecasters warn that ice-laden trees and power lines could fall, resulting in prolonged power outages.
The warming trend continues as Thursday’s temperatures have reached the lower 60s across southern Minnesota and Iowa. Friday will be even warmer with record warmth likely Friday afternoon as highs surge into the upper 70s to around 80 degrees.

It could take several days before power comes back on in parts of Northern Michigan in aftermath of an ice storm.
An ice storm warning continued for nine Michigan counties, with additional accumulations of up to 0.75 inches expected in spots.
