World Soccer Talk on MSNLiverpool’s $150 Million transfer for Florian Wirtz: third most expensive sale in soccer history – What is the most costly transfer?Florian Wirtz has officially become the most expensive signing in Premier League history after Liverpool secured the 22-year-old German midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen for a staggering €150 million.
Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for an initial $135 million, according to CBS Sports sources. The agreement to sign the German international could ultimately break the British transfer record set by Chelsea when they signed Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for just short of $145 million.
Liverpool’s continued engagement with Leverkusen over recent weeks has also coincided with major changes at the German club. Head coach Xabi Alonso has taken over at Real Madrid, replacing Carlo Ancelotti. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been appointed to lead Leverkusen through the next phase of their development.
After several rejected bids, Liverpool have now agreed a deal to sign Wirtz for a whopping €136.3 million (£116.1 million, $157.8 million)—making Wirtz the most expensive sale in Bundesliga history and setting him up to break the Premier League transfer record if all add-ons are met.
