A Cook County judge who made a controversial decision to release a man on electronic monitoring weeks before he killed his estranged wife is not hearing domestic violence cases because of threats he has received,

Judge Thomas E. Nowinski released a man who allegedly went on to fatally stab his wife in Portage Park and denied an emergency protective order against a man who allegedly went on to fatally stab the child of a former partner.

Judge Nowinski is reassigned and not hearing domestic violence cases after threats and public outcry over his release of a man who later killed his wife.
