Everything was going smoothly on Interstate 80 last Friday until police officers found over 1,100 pounds of cocaine inside a semi-truck. The truckers are currently behind bars as the investigation continues.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people from Canada have been arrested on drug charges, after Illinois State Police seized more than $40 million worth of cocaine from a semi-trailer truck near the Iowa state line on Friday. Police said, around 2:10 p.m., a trooper conducted a vehicle inspection on a Volvo semi-trailer on Interstate 80 in Henry County.

The Canadian men were driving a truck east on Interstate 80 in Henry County, Illinois. Police allegedly found 1,000 pounds of cocaine inside.

They don’t call it the “Great White North” for nothing. Two Canadian men were busted after smuggling over 1,100 pounds of cocaine — worth over $40 million — across the border into Illinois last week.
