The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Sean Monahan on Injured Reserve and added center Owen Sillinger to the roster on emergency recall from the Cleveland Monsters, the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, club President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell announced today.

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced Thursday that center Sean Monahan has been placed on the injured reserve with an upper-body ailment. In a corresponding roster move, left winger Owen Sillinger has been recalled from the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters on an emergency basis.

With eight minutes left in the third period in Pittsburgh, the Columbus Blue Jackets were down by two goals, playing without their No. 1 center, Sean Monahan, and staring at a steep climb in a building that’s never been welcoming to them.
