Volunteers spent two days rescuing animals at the center of an animal abuse investigation in San Joaquin County after dozens of dead or malnourished horses were discovered.

A Clements woman was arrested after authorities said they found more than two dozen dead horses on several properties this week in San Joaquin County.

Augustin Telly, who serves as chief of staff for San Joaquin County Supervisor Mario Gardea, was arrested on conspiracy and weapons charges.
