(JTA) — Vanessa Redgrave is unapologetic ... 1977 film “Julia,” in which Redgrave played the title role — a woman murdered by Nazis prior to World War II for her anti-fascist activism.

Tony Award-winning actress Joan Plowright died on Jan. 16 at Denville Hall, a retirement home for actors in southern England. Plowright was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her death.

Vanessa Redgrave, Eileen Atkins and Maggie Smith, Plowright won a Tony Award, two Golden Globes and nominations for an Oscar and an Emmy. She was made a dame by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004.
