The boil water order issued by the commission asks residents not to fill large jugs or containers, water lawns or open hydrants until at least Friday, and officials warned that the order may remain in effect until sometime next week. It affects Paterson and three smaller neighboring communities.

A boil water advisory in Passaic County has been partially lifted following a major water main break in Paterson. The Passaic Valley Water Commission says that the advisory was lifted for customers in the areas of Broadway and all streets south of Broadway, east of Spruce Street and west of Route 20.

The Wayne Avenue break is much smaller, with a 7 inch pipe. Crews are working on getting the water back to about a half-dozen residents who live on Wayne Avenue near Crosby Avenue. Some of those residents told CBS News New York they just got the water back on last night.
