Russia launched one of its largest drone salvos at Ukraine in recent months, targeting Kyiv and other cities and igniting a fire at an industrial facility in the western region of Ternopil, officials said on Wednesday.

The defence forces of Ukraine have shot down 17 more Russian drones since the morning of 16 October. Thus, the total count is now 68 drones destroyed out of 136 launched. 64 others disappeared from radar,

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the country can now make 4 million drones annually. The government, military, private companies and regular citizens are all involved.

To fill an urgent labor shortage, the Kremlin has been recruiting women from places like Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria, as well as Sri Lanka.

The Russian army has upgraded its Shahed strike drones. The drones now fly faster and at higher altitudes, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). The ISW cites the words of a serviceman serving in a mobile air defense unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
