Toys for Tots has filled a north Charlotte warehouse with 8,000 toys for children in need. The organization said a record number of families requested gifts this year, and they need to collect 90,000 more within the next week.

Community members have until Dec. 7 drop off new, unwrapped toys for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

The Toys for Tots campaign is underway, serving thousands of families across the Mahoning Valley and making sure kids have a present under the tree on Christmas morning. The Marine Corps says this is the most important week of the holiday season — this is their big push to get as many toys donated for families in need.
