At parks, coffee shops, churches and government buildings around the country, hundreds of people are expected to gather today with a simple message: “Stop the Trump takeover.”
The event was part of a national day of action, "Fight the Trump Takover," in protest of the redrawing of congressional maps in Texas. Protestors gathered on the Union and Eastmoreland overpasses and held signs and banners with statements such as "Resist" and "Stop Trump Save Democracy."
Protests were planned around the state and country in response to GOP-led mid-decade redistricting efforts, according to the Fight the Trump Takeover website. At least 100 protests were planned across several states.
