Portland Police release the identity of Officer Andrew Young, involved in the fatal shooting of Nicholas Thorn.

The officer who police say shot and killed a man in the Brentwood-Darlington Neighborhood earlier this month has been identified.

The Portland police officer who shot a man wielding a pellet air rifle Oct. 4 did so as another officer was trying to de-escalate the confrontation with the man, newly released body-camera footage shows. Officer Andrew Young shot and killed Nicholas G. Thorn, Portland police said.

A man who died after being shot by a Colleton County deputy has been identified, according to the coroner’s office. 32-year-old Joseph Horan V died following the incident with the deputy, the Colleton County Coroner’s Office said.
