A powerful winter storm has slammed Norfolk, Virginia, shutting down major roadways and leaving drivers stranded in a sea of snow and wrecked cars. With Interstate-64 completely blocked and visibility near zero, crews are scrambling to pull cars from ditches as frustrated motorists remain trapped in icy gridlock.

For County, rainfall is expected to range from 0.75 to 1.25 inch near the coast to 2 to 3 inches in the mountains through Friday.

The National Weather Service reported a 10% to 15% chance of light precipitation on Tuesday as the marine layer deepens from coastal to foothill areas throughout the county.

Wednesday's rain will be gentle and relatively light, but on Thursday and Thursday night, heavier precipitation will spread southeastward across the area, according to the National Weather Service.

But for at least the next 10 days, it will feel like it’s already over. “San Diego is going to be dry into March,” said Sebastian Westerink, a National Weather Service forecaster.
