Detroit: Become Human and Star Wars Eclipse developer Quantic Dream has confirmed it is "unaffected" by recent NetEase cuts and layoffs.

Quantic Dream, the studio working on Star Wars Eclipse, shares a highly awaited update in the wake of closures under parent company NetEase.

Guillaume de Fondaumière, the CEO and Head of Publishing for Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream, has released a statement on LinkedIn that the company was not affected by the recent layoffs and studio closures within NetEase Games.

Quantic Dream's CEO, Guillaume de Fondaumière, shared a post on LinkedIn, announcing that all is seemingly well at the firm (thanks, IGN ). In fact, Detroit sold over two million copies in 2024 (released in 2018), passing an impressive 11 million to date. Fondaumière wrote, in part:

What's worrying here is, Marvel Rivals took off like a rocket when it launched in December 2024, and it seems the game has not slowed down. NetEase has reported that the game has accumulated 40 million players already, translating to $2.9 billion revenue from the age already.

On Monday, the NetEase studio headed by former Control lead designer Paul Ehreth released a statement confirming it “has not been affected by any studio closures”, adding that it remains “full steam ahead” building its debut game.

As reports of funding cuts and layoffs at NetEase circulate, associated video game companies like Quantic Dream are assuring the public that their developers aren't affected – and neither are their games,

Numerous NetEase studios, including Quantic Dream, Nagoshi Studio, and Grasshopper, are reportedly at risk of closure after the Chinese publisher decided to divest its international operations.
