NYC ending use of migrant shelters in Albany, Colonie, Hudson Valley
New York City says it will end the use of upstate shelters — including motels in Albany, Colonie, Newburgh and Poughkeepsie — to house migrants. In a statement released Tuesday, Mayor Eric Adams' office said it is “closing” shelters at the Holiday Inn Express and Ramada Plaza in Albany as well as the SureStay Plus in Colonie.
