Prolific R&B singer and politician Jerry Butler - also known as “The Iceman,” died at 85. His assistant and “niece at heart,” Marty, told TMZ that Butler passed away from natural causes on Thursday night at his home in Chicago. He had also been battling Parkinson’s disease.

The late R&B singer was the original frontman of The Impressions, a musical group that he co-founded with Curtis Mayfield.

The 83 year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, perhaps best known for mega hits like “Mrs. Robinson,” “The Sound of Silence” and “America,” made the announcement on Tuesday as he referenced his “Quiet Celebration Tour” in an Instagram post.
