Oakland public schools stand to lose $30 million that supported after-school programs, English language learners, newcomers, and other enrichment programs.

The federal grant funding traditionally goes out by July 1. It includes support for migrant education, after-school programs and English language learners.

The Trump administration has accused states and schools of using federal education grants to help fund “a radical leftwing agenda.”
