Firefighters responded to a brush fire in Fontana Thursday evening. The vegetation fire was first reported at around 5:30 p.m. in the area of Canyon Crest Drive and Weeping Willow Lane, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

The St. Johns County Fire Rescue is warning the fire risk is a lot higher Thanksgiving week. This is after one family lost their home in a fire the day before Thanksgiving – which is known to be one of the worst days for fires.

Thanksgiving Day is one of the busiest days of the year for fire departments nationally and locally. It is their busiest day to deal with home fires, most of which start in the kitchen.
