The smoke floating over the border shared between America and Canada is now impacting air quality in states as far south as Texas, AirNow's data shows. The EPA has declared the air quality in states near the Canadian border as "unhealthy or "unhealthy for sensitive groups."

Over the weekend, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) issued an air quality health advisory for much of Upstate New York. This isn’t the first this year—and it likely won’t be the last.

With hundreds of wildfires burning across Canada, smoke has drifted into the northern United States, lowering air quality across roughly a dozen states.
