It’s finally time: after months of teases and rumors, Nintendo has finally revealed the successor to the Switch. A new console generation is always a big deal, but this is an especially pivotal one for Nintendo.

After years of speculation, and constant leaks in recent months, Nintendo has finally revealed the successor to the Nintendo Switch console.

We're due for a new Nintendo Switch. The current model has performed valiantly for the last seven years but it's much showing its age in terms of processing power. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced that the game system's long-awaited successor will be revealed before the end of March 2025,

The console looks a lot like the original, but in the video, the Joy-Con controllers are black with colored accents. There’s also a new button under the home button on the right Joy-Con, which had shown up in leaks. The video also appears to show the Joy-Cons being used similarly to a mouse.

Why is everybody expecting the Switch 2 reveal today? It all started back on January 13, when multiple outlets corroborated reports from industry commentator Nate the Hate that Nintendo was preparing to release a Switch 2 trailer on January 16, 2024.

Nintendo has finally announced its successor to the Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch 2. In a video uploaded to YouTube, Nintendo showed off the functionality of the next-gen console in vague terms, with a tease of more information to come.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is closer than ever but I can't but hope Nintendo learns from its past to make the successor all it possibly can be.
