TOKYO (Reuters) -Leaders of the group of atomic bomb survivors awarded the Nobel Peace Prize warned on Saturday that the risk of nuclear war was rising, renewing their call to abolish nuclear weapons.

Terumi Tanaka, who survived the Nagasaki bombing at age 13, said he hopes the award will help raise public awareness.

Last year, jailed Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi won the Nobel Peace Prize for her fight against the oppression of Iranian women. Winners are awarded a medal, diploma, and 11 million Swedish kroner, the equivalent of slightly more than $1 million. The ceremony for the award will be held in Oslo on Dec. 10.
