Erik and Lyle Menendez were convicted of first-degree murder in the deaths of their parents and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has said his office was reviewing the convictions of the brothers, who were found guilty in the 1989 killings of their parents.

The Los Angeles district attorney publicly released a letter he cited as “new evidence” in the infamous Erik and Lyle Menendez case — as he mulls whether to review the brothers’ life sentences for murdering their parents.

In 1993, the prosecutor in the first murder case against Lyle and Erik Menendez accused the brothers of fabricating stories about being sexually abused by their father in order to avoid being convicted of killing him and their mother in 1989.
