Stellantis has announced its intention to close their Luton plant in the United Kingdom. The facility was slated to begin building mid-size electric vans next spring, but the automaker wants to consolidate production at Ellesmere Port.

Vauxhall will close its 120-year-old Luton plant in April, the parent company Stellantis announced. More than 1,100 jobs at the van-making factory are at risk, but Stellantis said it is hoping to transfer "hundreds" of Luton jobs to the group's Vauxhall site in Ellesmere Port,

Workers at Vauxhall's factory in Luton have told of their surprise at how quickly they could lose their jobs. It came after parent company Stellantis announced the closure of its van-making plant and subsequent relocation to Ellesmere Port in Cheshire.

The owner of the Vauxhall brand says it plans to close its factory in Luton which makes vans, putting 1,100 jobs at risk. The Vivaro vans, was due to be overhauled next year to make electric models. But Stellantis,
